The brunch Gabrielle-Roy is a yearly fundraising event organized traditionally around Gabrielle’s birth date which was on March 22nd, 1909.
The brunch will once again be quite exceptional as we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Association d’éducation des Canadiens français du Manitoba. The Brunch will be held on Sunday March 20th 2016, from 12:00 (noon) to 2:15 pm.
This is a bilingual event and most of the information will be presented in French and in English.
To celebrate this special event, many activities have been organized. Students will perform a short play illustrating the 1916 official prohibition of schooling in French in the province. The same year, the AECFM was created. Being in school since 1915, Gabrielle-Roy won several times the AECFM annual French contest before becoming a school teacher.
Volunteers will dress up in the fashion of 1916 and the guests are invited to dress up to the 1916’s theme if they desire. As usual, participants can expect a delicious meal. As for the prizes, we are pleased to say we received, amongst other items, numerous bottles of wine as donations.
Tickets are for sell for only $50 and can be purchased by calling 204-233-ALLO (204 233-2556) or 1 800 665-4443. Tickets are also available at the Maison Gabrielle-Roy, 375 Deschambault Street.
